Masters Training Groups

Training groups

We have three different Masters training groups. They are mostly based on ability levels, along with desires and goals of the swimmer. You can decide what group you want to swim with based on your ability, goals, and the base interval each practice group is swimming.

White Group

White group swims 25-yard freestyle 100s on a base interval of 2:30. This means that if the coach has you swim a set of 5 x 100 on 2:30, you would swim 100 yards freestyle and start the next 100 when 2:30 has passed on the pace clock. So, if you swim the 100 in 2 minutes, you get 30-seconds rest before you start the next 100.

When doing stroke/IM sets, long distance sets, sprint sets, etc., intervals are adjusted accordingly.

This group does 2000-2800 yards per workout.

Black Group

Black group swims 25-yard freestyle 100s on a base interval of 2:00. This means that if the coach has you swim a set of 5 x 100 on 2:00, you would swim 100 yards freestyle and start the next 100 when 2:00 has passed on the pace clock. So, if you swim the 100 in 1:45, you get 15-seconds rest before you start the next 100.

When doing stroke/IM sets, long distance sets, sprint sets, etc., intervals are adjusted accordingly.

This group does 2500-3200 yards per workout.

Blue Group

Blue group swims 25-yard freestyle 100s on a base interval of 1:30. This means that if the coach has you swim a set of 5 x 100 on 1:30, you would swim 100 yards freestyle and start the next 100 when 1:30 has passed on the pace clock. So, if you swim the 100 in 1:15, you get 15-seconds rest before you start the next 100.

When doing stroke/IM sets, long distance sets, sprint sets, etc., intervals are adjusted accordingly.

This group does 3400-4000+ yards per workout.
